This is a short story of how I become a full-time gardener running my own business.
I was introduced to gardening (what my grandparents then called
"The GreenLife") from a very young age. Growing up I would visit my grandparents most weekends and, as you would expect of their generation, they were generally found in the garden fulfilling their passion: weeding, pruning, hedge and grass cutting to ensure they had an amazing garden they could enjoy all year, not to mention the growing of their own vegetables. As I was spending so much time with them in their garden, helping them achieve their perfect garden, it quickly became apparent I had caught the "GreenLife" bug and loved every minute of it.
So, a number of years down the line, life had moved on and I moved away from the Garden of England, did the usual college thing and then came the 9 - 5 job.
A few years ago, something triggered these wonderful memories and awoke those green fingers of mine. So I set about studying for my Garden Design and Maintenance Qualification. During this time, I worked for an established local gardening company at weekends to further my practical skills, with the knowledge that I would eventually set myself the task of living the "GreenLife" full-time and run my own gardening company.
Which leads me to where I am today. I quit my successful management career to go back to my grassroots and do the things I love: waking up every morning smiling, knowing I'm going out in the fresh air to make a difference to someone's life by helping to provide them with a garden they can really enjoy all year-round.
